This is the first post in a new series for us with a focus on our clients and their stories.Julie is a member of the same BNI chapter as me. She hates having her photo taken but was brave enough to step in front of the camera for a new headshot. I used a lighting style I've not used in a little while which gives quite a glow to the skin. On a white background it's just right to go with your halo if you're a good estate agent.
Occupation: Sales and Letting Manager
Company: The Good Estate Agent (Canterbury), website: thegoodestateagent.co.uk
Tell us more about you and your career path to date: I have worked in a corporate service environment for over 30 years. I was made redundant and decided I wanted to pursue a different career. I've always wanted to be an Estate Agent so I decided to bite the bullet and buy the franchise for the Good Estate Agent. I love being self employed - as I do not have any limitations for marketing a property - and I am free to use the people/companies I choose. It's also getting the work/life balance right - so although I work very hard - and often at weekends, I don't miss out on either of my son or daughter's special events.
Tell us more about your company: The Good Estate Agent is the oldest hybrid Estate Agents in the UK. It is not an internet estate agents nor is it a traditional High street one - it's the best of both worlds - so as we are not on the high street we can, in turn, give you the savings for not having to pay rates etc, however I do not charge anything until your property is sold - so no upfront costs - I do 100% accompanied viewings, a free EPC if a property needs it and I charge 0.75% plus VAT on ANY property. I use professional photographers, drone technology and 3d coloured floor plans. The head office is in Lympne so it is very local and the team there deal with all of the sales progression and lettings management.
What problems do you consistently solve for your clients? What they actually want v what they can actually afford.
What are you complimented on most in your work? Communication - I am constantly engaged with my clients and will always provide feedback on a viewing within 24 hours. Also, the fact that I can be reached until 9pm every day of the week.
Who is your ideal client and why should they connect with you? My ideal client would be someone who loves properties as much as I do or someone who says "money is no object"!
What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally? I'm probably the most passionate about trying to turn people's perception around re Estate Agents. Service is key to this job and I would like people to come away thinking that they've had value for money for the service they have received. Personally, I am passionate about sport - particularly Liverpool FC and am looking forward to them winning the premiership.
What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it? Gin taster
What are you surprisingly good at? Making cheesecakes and playing badminton
